Description
The Smart Multibox is an extremely versatile MIDI interface box. Its 2 MIDI inputs, 4 MIDI outputs and USB-C port are connected to a powerful CPU which can be programmed to process incoming messages and send them to one or more outputs.
There are three main operating modes you can choose from:
Merge/Thru - in this mode, the Smart Multibox works as a MIDI merge and thru box. Any messages sent to either of the 2 inputs are sent to all 4 outputs. This can be used to combine the outputs of 2 MIDI controllers or computers and send the result to multiple MIDI devices.
USB MIDI - in this mode, the Smart Multibox can act as a USB to MIDI interface when connected to a computer. All MIDI inputs and outputs will appear in your MIDI apps, and you can use them to send and receive MIDI messages.
Script Mode - This is the most powerful mode. It allows you to run scripts that perform complex translation and routing of MIDI messages. Scripts can be downloaded from our website using the Smart Multibox app, or you can write them yourself. Scripts are written in the Micropython language, which allows it to take on pretty much any job.
Additionally, the Smart Multibox has a TRS input for an expression pedal or external switch, which can be used in scripts. And, Input 1 and Output 1 support bidirectional MIDI and phantom power for use with devices that support them.
POWER SUPPLY SOLD SEPARATELY
NOTE: The Smart Multibox can be powered through its USB-C connector, as long as you're not using the phantom power feature. Or, a 9-12VDC Boss-type power supply with 100mA or more of current capacity can be used. When phantom powering, be sure to use a power supply that can supply enough current to power the Smart Multibox and the devices that are being phantom powered by it.
